Pasanga - Review

Why you must watch it:
  • Director & Producer Sasikumar (Subramaniapuram) returns as Producer Sasikumar!
  • A film about children that both children and adults will find endearing
  • Clean, refreshing yet entertaining to the core!

The Good: Plot, Performances and Casting, Music .... I could go on!

The Bad: No major cribs

Look out for: Vega Tamotia the Chhattisgarh born, Sydney bred actress who returns as Soppi Kannu the teacher with sparkle after her debut in Saroja (in a brief title role).

Bottomline: About 15 minutes into the film one of the film's two major protagonist Anbu (essayed by Kishore) introduces his family and concludes by telling the audience - "You might expect us to grow up and become adults sometime during this film;  but we wont, we will remain kids throughout this film!". And at the end of the film you are more than happy that debutant director Pandiraj (Who has assisted directors like Cheran) had the conviction to make a Tamil film that revolves around 'Pasanga'. The film starts with Anbu arriving in a new school as he enters the Sixth Standard and his face off with Jeeva (Sriram) the boy who is the 'Leader' of his pack. The film follows this rivalry and how Jeeva and Anbu's families get drawn into it. The supporting cast is sensational, especially the two kids (Pandian and Murugesh) who play Jeeva's sidekicks Pakoda & Kuttymani and bring the house down with their typical 'Jalra for the thalaivar'. There are hardly any points in the film that are exaggerated or make you feel that these kids are not playing their age. The film is set in Virachilai near Pudukottai, director Pandiraj's hometown. Little wonder that he is able to capture some of the most subtle nuances of small town Tamil Nadu and weave into his plot. James Vasanth's music adds tremendous value but dont look for a Kangal Irandal in this soundtrack! Sasikumar's Subramniapuram was one of the best films of 2008 and for me Pasanga is the Tamil film of 2009; thus far

it's a lovely film!! kudos to the crew! i'm very sorry to say...but formula films, showing nothing but sleaze in every aspect must learn a thing or two from such films!

Wow! a very good film. I assure you that it will keep you entertained through out the film. Expecting films in Tamil with same quality and decency.
